| According to Don Kelemen, the community relations director for Sugar Hill, the crushed rock that will make the base of the sports fields and walking trails is being spread. Kelemen also announced in November that after reviewing six proposals and viewing and handling many samples, the city has selected Deluxe Athletics to install the synthetic turf on those sporting fields. Kelemen said because of the park's construction and drainage system, the facility will support year-round play on the fields no matter what the weather conditions. Kelemen also said that because of the turf's three pounds of crumb rubber per square foot and its sand and rock base beneath the fiber carpet, the fields will maintain a year-round shock attenuation rating. "This means safer play, and consistent field conditions," he said. The 234,945-square-foot space will include two tournament-sized soccerfields and one smaller field.
